The cabin is burning.
Covering itself in violet flowers of fire
I sit and take in the dark pleasure of the falling ashes.
Swirling, spinning, colliding in frantic confusion
Destroying itself, falling and dying in my lap
Such beautiful violence.
The blooming embers blowing forth dark petals that tickle my legs
Making me shiver from a cold place within.
Yet deeply absorbing the glow of the fire
Warming my broken soul
Melting my heart…
The cabin, now completely digested by the sapphire flames
Demon lips and devil tongues that kissed and licked it away
Sucking all the color from my childhood
Molding everything into mounds in the death shade black
Ashes staining innocent waters in midnight hues
The simple pond life suffocating in the blackness
Just like me…
The fire creeps closer
Pools of water forming its trail
Damp with snow and fallen tears
My flesh catches fire like it never has before
Searing past the emotional scarring
Burning deep into my mind
And never has it felt like this in the confusion of the storm.
Never
